Do you love your marketing? Have you considered that it might be possible to market from a place of love, doing marketing activities you love, all so you can serve your beloved clients even better?

Love

Maybe love is the answer.

If the foundation of your marketing is based on something you truly love, something you might be inclined to do even if you didn’t get paid, you’re a lot more likely to do it. Deliver a message you love sharing, in a way that you love sharing it.

For example, C.J. Hayden (yes, “our” C.J.) loves sharing marketing ideas with others, helping them build businesses that fuel their soul, fill their bank account, and create better lives for their clients. The way she most loves to market is via writing. For C.J., the foundation of marketing love is based on using her gifts to help others use theirs.

Can you let love be the answer?

When you build your marketing foundation on love, everything gets easier. You let go of the supposed-tos and have-tos, and enter a place where marketing is a natural extension of the work you do.

Here are three keys to help you build your marketing on love.

1. If you don’t love it, let it go.

There’s nothing worse than doing things you don’t like. If you’re not feeling the love, stop doing the marketing tasks you’ve been doing and instead ask what tasks would generate more love.

I had a client tell me that she didn’t love doing some of her marketing tasks which she thought she “had to” do, and she felt much better when she stopped doing them. Doing marketing you don’t love is bad for your soul, and less likely to be effective.

2. If you’re not feeling the love, change it up.

If you’ve been doing the same thing too long, the love may not be there the way it used to be. Check in with yourself to make sure your soul, your business, and your marketing are aligned, and be willing to make adjustments if necessary.

For example, a client shared that he liked building his business, yet didn’t love marketing it. If you’re going to do all that work, you’d want to love getting the word out about it, right? He took a look at how he’d been marketing, made a few tweaks, and enjoyed the process a whole lot more.

3. If it’s not working, move on.

In order for your business to keep going, your marketing needs to produce results. Be careful not to kid yourself about what kind of results you’re getting. Instead, look at the intersection of what you love and what’s producing results. It’s possible to find both. Be willing to adjust your business and marketing until you find that sweet spot of love + results.

As a client said to me after she’d found her love + results marketing formula, “I had no idea this could be so easy, and I’d actually come to love it.”

Taking the time to build your marketing from a place of love — making it a true reflection of you and what your business offers — is the best way to have a healthy business that produces fantastic results for you, and for your clients.

Love is the answer.
